Transferring Domain Names |
If you already have a domain name
registered it is not neccessary to have it transferred to Chinook
Webs in order to use our hosting service. Some customers prefer
to have both the domain and hosting taken care of by one company.
If you do want to have the domain name transferred to our registrar
services, there are a couple of points to be aware of. |
Admin Email |
The admin email on the domain
registration is very important and should be an email account
in good standing that will continue to be active and accessible
for the duration of the domain registration. The administrator
email on the domain name registration must approve the domain
transfer. If this email address no longer exists the simplest
solution is to have it recreated. |
Domain Management user name and password |
Upon initial registration a user
name and password was assigned to the domain name. This information
is required to unlock domains. You can request that the current
registrar supply this information and they will send it to the
Admin Email account. |
.COM (.org/.biz/.info) domain names |
Domain names with these extensions
need to be unlocked prior to transfer initiation. |
.CA domain names |
CIRA assigns .CA domain names
additional user name and password codes when they are first
registered. These will also be required for confirmation of
.CA domain name transfers. You can put in a request to CIRA
to have these sent to the Admin Email account. |
Do you lose any registration time already paid for? |
Successful transfers automatically
add 1 year to the domain name's existing expiry date. |

Did you know?
Expired Domain names are put in a "suspended" mode
for 30 days or more. They can be renewed by the domain name
owner during this time even though any associated websites are
not visible.
